How long does it take to install?
One script tag, so a few minutes. It works on Shopify, WordPress, Webflow, Framer, React or plain HTML, because it is a normal script and the widget keeps its styling to itself rather than inheriting yours.
What happens when I run out of minutes?
She keeps working and extra minutes are four cents each, the same rate on every plan. Nothing switches off mid-conversation and nothing expires at the end of the month.
Is Smara the cheapest real-time AI avatar?
Against the six complete products we compare on this site, yes. Every plan includes the speech recognition, the language model, the voice and the avatar, from about four cents a minute, and each extra minute is four cents. On their published prices, that is the lowest per minute of those six on every plan. Some infrastructure is priced lower for rendering the avatar alone, but then you add and pay for the model, the voice and the transcription yourself.
Will it slow my site down?
No. The widget loads after your page and the avatar video only starts when somebody opens it. The stream itself sizes to the visitor's connection, down to about 100 kbps, which is less than a music stream.
Does she just talk, or can she actually do things?
She can do things. You show her a job once by clicking through it, and after that she can fill in a form, book a call, apply a filter or move someone to the right page. She asks for confirmation before anything that matters.
Where do my visitors' conversations go?
They are kept for thirty days so you can see what people asked, then deleted. Voice is never stored: speech becomes text and the audio is dropped in the same request. Nothing is sold and nothing trains a model. The full detail is on the privacy page.
Can I use my own face?
Yes, on the Growth plan and above. A short recording of someone talking becomes the avatar, and the engine measures that person's own mouth so it fits their face rather than a template.
What if my customers do not speak English?
She speaks 31 languages and answers in whichever one the visitor uses, without you configuring anything.
Can it run on our own servers?
Yes. The engine needs no GPU, so it runs on ordinary hardware inside your building, which is the arrangement for clinics and firms that cannot send customer questions to an outside service. Replies are slower that way and we will tell you honestly how much.
